With support from the California Department of Aging and AARP's Age-Friendly Network of States and Communities, Merced County is collaborating with local partners to make its communities more livable and accessible for residents of all ages and abilities.
Driven by the results of a Community Assessment Survey of Older Adults (CASOA®) in 2023 and information collected during nine (9) aging and disability focus groups across the county in early 2025, Merced County's Area Agency on Aging will develop its first-ever Local Aging & Disability-Friendly Action Plan (LADAP). The Action Plan is scheduled for approval by the County Board of Supervisors in June 2025.
The five-year Action Plan will consist of implementation projects designed to meet the most pressing needs of older adults and people with disabilities living in the county. Each project will include actionable information, such as goal(s), a timeline, and key project partners. As projects are completed and goals achieved, Merced County will update the Action Plan to achieve additional age and disability-friendly goals.
