With support from the California Department of Aging and AARP's Age-Friendly Network of States and Communities, Merced County is collaborating with local partners to make its communities more livable and accessible for residents of all ages and abilities.
Driven by the results of a Community Assessment Survey of Older Adults (CASOA®) in 2023 and information collected during ten (10) aging and disability focus groups across the county in 2025, Merced County's Area Agency on Aging developed its first-ever Local Aging & Disability-Friendly Action Plan (LADAP). The Action Plan was adopted by the County Board of Supervisors on June 10, 2025.
The five-year Action Plan consists of implementation projects designed to meet the most pressing needs of older adults and people with disabilities living in the county. Each project includes actionable information, such as goal(s), a timeline, and key project partners. As projects are completed and goals achieved, Merced County will update the Action Plan to achieve additional age and disability-friendly goals.
